Cordillera will implement freeze/thaw weight restrictions that limit trucks to 12,000 pounds per axle Monday, March 25. Weight restrictions are implemented to protect the structural integrity of the asphalt roads.
The duration of these restrictions are determined by the average daily temperatures; therefore, it is difficult to determine when the restrictions will end. In the past, freeze/thaw restrictions have generally lasted until the end of April.
During this period, all trucks except fire trucks, Metro District trucks and residential trash trucks will be restricted. During this time property owners are advised to not schedule deliveries that require large trucks as they will not be permitted within the community. Property owners or contractors with questions are encouraged to contact Joanne Kelley at 970-471-2769.
